Website Setup Information
No business is too small for a website.
I offer start to finish website design, redesign and maintenance, shopping cart setup, graphic design, domain registration, everything needed to put up an effective site. Let me take the confusion out of the process.
Here are samples of my finished sites.
Cost breakdown -
Domain registration:
Domain names cost about $10 per year. Prices varies from registrar to registrar.
Hosting service:
The service I use is Linksky.
For $59.40 per year or $94.80 for two years, they supply 3,500MB (3.5GB) of server space (more than
plenty for most websites), 200 email addresses, 6 MySQL databases and plenty
of other additional tools and services, like free shopping carts, blogs, forums,
traffic stats and antispam. I have been using them to host my site and a lot
of my clients' sites since 2001 and have found them to be
reliable, courteous and very professional.
While I highly recommend Linksky, I can usually work with any host you like.
Shopping carts:
The cost of a shopping cart varies, from free to thousands of dollars. I can
help you decide if you should invest in your own software, such as X-Cart for
$265, or if a free cart, such as Ecwid, would work in your
situation. PayPal and
Mal's e-commerce offer
non-database cart services, which include security, which are good for sites
with just a few items to sell.
Site security:
For most consumers, the only way they will ever consider buying your products
or services online is when they are satisfied their personal information is
secure. Using SSL certificates to secure your online transactions will indicate
to the customer that they are dealing with a reputable company or organization
that has been authenticated by a trusted third-party. The customer will visibly
see that their online transaction will be secure, from the lock icon on their
web browser. It also sends all confidential information (such as credit card
numbers) from the visitor's browser using encryption that prevents the information
from easily being intercepted. This will reassure them that you have removed
the risk associated with making transactions over the Internet.
Secure certificates cost from $30 a year and up. It is necessary to have a fixed
IP address assigned to your domain by the hosting service, which usually costs
more, too. Linksky charges $36 a year extra for a fixed IP address. PayPal and Mal's
e-commerce cart services include security, so a secure certificate is usually
not required.
My fees:
I charge $60 an hour for everything I do - website design,
shopping cart setup, miscellaneous services, site maintenance, etc. I charge
for the time it takes to do the work, including meetings and instructions
for inputting products and managing a shopping cart, or managing a photo
gallery, forum or blog. I do require a deposit before work begins.
Feel free to email or call me about any questions or concerns you may have. I will do my best to make developing your website a painless and hassle free experience!
